đ âAs long as youâre happy!â How many times have you been told that happiness is something you should chase, something you deserve, or something to prioritize above all else?
Letâs be realâthatâs garbage. Happiness isnât handed to you. It doesnât magically appear just because you want it. Itâs a byproduct of living a productive, purposeful life.
Why Most People Struggle to Find Happiness
Take a hard look around. Our generation (I’m 38 years old) and younger are obsessed with the idea of âhappiness.â Yet, somehow, theyâre the most miserable people on the planet.
By all accounts, when we first started our property investing journey, Lisa and I had what most people would call a brilliant life:
âď¸ Great jobs
âď¸ Healthy, happy kids
âď¸ A beautiful home
âď¸ Decent wages from successful careers
And yet, we werenât happy.
What Was Missing?
Because we were avoiding the responsibility to live a bigger, better, freer, and more generous life.
We avoided it because it was:
â Filled with doubt
â Full of fear
â Requiring sacrifice
â Unfamiliar & overwhelming
But hereâs the truth: happiness isnât about comfort. Itâs about growth.
The Real Secret to Happiness
True happiness comes from setting goals that stretch you beyond your limits and striving for something far greater than yourself.
đĽ Happiness is the reward for a life well-lived.
Steve McKnight said it best:
âMoney wonât buy you happiness, but it will buy you business class, and thatâs⌠pretty close.â
I remember hearing that from the great man back when business class was just a dream for us.
đ Now we only travel business class. And every time, I remember Steveâs words because they are so profoundly true.
